Capitalism and Economics are based on the organisational properties of physics and chemistry. You know, matter and energy. Living organisms need a “profit” of energy and materials to stop themselves decomposing and to grow, in metabolism. Highly active creatures like warm-blooded mammals and birds need a fairly constant energy intake. The vast matter and energy take of civilisation is needed to sustain running everything, build and rebuild. The laws of entropy stipulate that a large amount of energy is lost as heat, and various forms of matter become lost and economically unusable as waste. Too bad, a large fraction of the mostly recycling living world which runs on solar energy, is being demolished and poisoned. This includes the soil of agriculture systems that feed civilisation. The process of killing off the renewable cycles of nature is covered mostly by the term “Drawdown”. This means stuffing up ecosystems that are beyond human understanding. In the narrow political sense capitalism is the ruination of nature for the short term high living of wealthy elites and the civilisation they control. Capitalism requires going through your stock of natural capital as fast and destructively creative as possible. It is competitive reduction of all newly found resources of low entropy, and turning them into waste. It matters not what the redistributive political arrangements of wealth and power are. Communism is for the global commons, when adjusted down to the normal level of everyone living within the sustainable resource budgets and cycles of nature.
