From listening to the book “The Dawn of Everything” I get the impression that state-national governments are organised from emergent necessity of human interaction, around the exploitation of super surplus resources without which they would not exist. Their sensitivities are about the protection of resource exploitation, and secrets and sacred rites of rule, such as democratic or party institutions, which are about maintenance of territory and who has access. This puts climate concerns into the status of attacks on the state and its money sacred institutions and office holders, and their surplus exploiting ways of life. Extreme surplus leads to extreme privilege, like the absolute monarchies of old, whose mindset, like set as religious concrete, cannot even be communicated with. This entrenchment proceeded until our entire global civilisation , is built around fossil fuel consumption, and is destructively hostile to any other arrangement, with immune systems using economics or takeover. The question is how to accelerate fossil fuel supply induced collapse, and this looks like it is going to be overthrow, war and civil society breakdown, and those apocalyptic riders of post overshoot.
