I feel this too. We domesticated dogs and so we feel we are the top dogs. Civilisation conquest of everything is like Napoleon’s campaign to conquer Russia. Full of self-importance, made-up rationale, modernity, grandeur, bombast, and denial of risks. Fully equipped with the never finished upgrading the human national arms races of nuclear, chemical, poisons, and explosive killer technologies. We are gods of death, and our own risk of death, and our mortality are what we most deny.

We are as domesticated members of human society as our dogs are to us. We faithfully trust and follow the glorious national leaders of our exceptionally worshipped cultures and tribes, dressed in their regalia of fancy suits, ranked uniforms, and exalted titles, all the way up to and including the ruination of everything.

Final defeat of our forced march of economic growth is by attrition of climate, and resource logistics collapse. Our massive numbers will get winnowed down from the attentions of the smallest of insects and germs, and the results of our very own “scorched earth policy”. Napoleon was extra lucky because he and his few sick stragglers were allowed to limp their way back, and they still had a home somewhere to go back to. So many died there was hardly anyone left to depose the fools in charge.

The numbers of global refugees from all our foolish war campaign projects are now rising with exponential growth, and global carrying capacity, and states capacity to manage, is now falling, with examples of the once great United Kingdom and USA.
