I see a problem of complete denial of the biosphere systems need for human industrial systems degrowth. The most overt is deep money corporate sponsored. For example, in Australia, see the web-site of the "Centre for Independent Studies" which sports a page with a point by point refutation of the need for degrowth. https://www.cis.org.au/publication/debunking-degrowth/
All these points can be countered of course, but an emotional weight goes with this Think Tank's air of money and authority, such that many people are swayed into believing what is most convenient to believe for their positions and lifestyles. But I am gratified that the corporate expansionist elites of MIT need to go to such rationalisation lengths to subvert the obvious, and silence their inner voices of guilt. Just take the the money and status accolades. We deceive ourselves most easiest and first of all.
