Industrial Renewable Energy infrastructure – IRE, is also one-way industrial. It wears out and is mostly non-recyclable. It cannot be eaten, but it’s creation and operations are not so life friendly, despite overall lower emissions. Mining is a growing consumer of energy, as we hit depletion limits. IRE depends on a lot of dirty mining, dirty processing, dirty manufacture, rare earth minerals, energy from fossil fuels total industrial infrastructure.

IRE fully supports and integrates with our car-mad, urbanised, life-killing way of life, such that we happily use up all forms of energy. Due to energy , material and environment costs and build times, IRE can’t be scaled up as fully and rapidly required, and cannot supply the most convenient dense portable energy, encourages the continuation of the fossil fuel industrial empires, by increasing total available energy.

The rapid deprecation of car transport is a very good step. So too is turning off all the the energy guzzling machines unless they are absolutely needed. Modern states are totalitarian, systematised corporate machines running on fossil fuels. They need to be placed into permanent hibernation mode. Fossil fuel lockdowns. Offensive military forces and machines based on fossil fuels scrapped. Agriculture systems reorganised for animal and human labor, and non fossil fuel based inputs. For human needs, keep up food and water, accommodation systems, refrigeration, storage and ration distribution and these require maintenance.

Shutdown has to meet up with renewable energy scale up. Shutdown and social energy reorganisation are our major unused abilities, as everything else will eventually fail. Our current way of living should be considered to be the walking dead.
