My sin is to generalise. Internal actions and misbehaviour of state citizens are always defined differently to external threats, , this applies to all states/nations. Conditions and degrees of state suppression vary. As you say, the USA is a simmering brew of toxic population reaction. It’s a becoming time for discord. What a fractured society of Isms. Let’s pretend it isn’t happening. Upper crust haven’t a clue, apart from upping their personal bodyguard counts, and letting police shoot likely targets at will. Media suppression, is fear of copycats, and pretending it isn’t happening, like global heating and ecosystems collapse. Like “Muckers”, from “Stand on Zanzibar”. Run amuck. This is not the first time, and there are likely to be more. A Revolution happens when enough people decide to do it together with a decent plan. Technology provides for more creativity and opportunity in violence. The USA appears to be well past the upper limits of wealth inequality for a stable society. Social collapse is happening faster.
