Sums up our species propensities very well. Natural selection doesn’t tend to generate an off switch except in the very long run of ecosystems dynamic balance. Changing the chemical and heat composition of oceans, land and atmosphere ranks alongside the great oxygenation period of photosynthetic bacteria, for a runaway systems change, as compared by Reg Morrison in “Plague Species”. We are the prattling plague species.
