Human beings are themselves a social organism, with specialisation of worker castes, like ants, bees and termites. The nation-state, is a social organisms with a collective intelligence, probably not too clever, starting with the first warring city states, with specialised warrior castes, religious and ruling castes, and slaves and overseers of course.

Collectivity of human beings, particularly that of collaborating organised males, maybe started with hunting parties, for the men. For the women, maybe with horticulture. Domestication of humans gradually happened because coalitions of men organised a social – cultural intelligence, and got rid of those less domesticated that wouldn’t fit in.
