My own notion is that industrial Consumer society, as a complex organism also dies as it cannot evolve into something new. It was already fully specified and specialised for time and place. There is no further path for this giant. Organism development of multicellular creatures can only seed a new development, from basic instructions which leaves us with back to the biological, and evolutionary, and human renewable means of cultural transmission, that may pass through the bottleneck.
